Construction
Pool construction is very similar for Gunite, Vinyl and Fiberglass especially for the most critical elements.
Location –
The location of the pool must conform to state and local codes, and more and more environmental and conservation guidelines must be addressed. Distance from buildings, property lines, septic systems, etc. are necessary first considerations. Obtain your plot plan to start this evaluation.
Siting –
The position of the pool relative to the sun’s trajectory is important. We generally suggest locating the steps in the area that will receive the last rays of the sun in the late afternoon, and that is typically the Northeast or Southeast. Each situation is unique.
Drainage –
Location of the pool near slopes leading to the pool is very important as adequate drainage away from the pools necessary. Regrading or drainage elements may be necessary. Slopes away from the pool may require a retaining wall or regrading to safeguard the integrity of the pool.
Another drainage consideration is the composition of the soil. Clay soils hold water and to not permit good drainage. To remedy these conditions may require removal of clay and replacement with gravel fill.
Elevation –
This absolutely one of the most critical steps, as it impact drainage and the finished look of the pool and accompanying deck relative to its surrounding structures.
